Unique story

The University of Auckland Business School Entrepreneurs’ Challenge provided up to one million dollars annually for investment in growth-oriented New Zealand SMEs looking to develop their businesses offshore.

Since the website launch in 2009 till 2018, the challenge has successfully showcased innovative winners such as coffee aficionados Allpress Espresso; tourism company JUCY; and bioinformatics software company Biomatters.

Funded by ex-pat New Zealand financier Charles Bidwill, entries were welcomed from established small to medium businesses across the country with a $1million per annum turnover.  The SMEs entering the competition applied with the objective to secure additional funding for projects or opportunities to grow and expand their businesses overseas.
