Hurricane’s Express Bondi Beach

Takeaway store & home delivery

Unique story

Hurricane’s Express Bondi Beach was part of the successful Hurricane’s Grill & Bar Steakhouse Restaurant group. It opened in 2005 as a stand alone takeaway store a couple of doors down from the main restaurant. Customers from all over Sydney, could order restaurant quality flame grilled ribs, steaks and burgers for store pick up.

In 2012, the Hurricane’s Express store moved around the corner into Gould Street, and in 2013 it started online ordering – store pick up and home delivery. In May 2019 after 14 years of servicing the local Bondi community, the Express takeaway store closed its doors.

Hurricane’s Express Bondi Beach launched its own website in 2012 using the WordPress framework. Showcasing the takeaway menu, location, contact details and news blog. The look and feel for the site, was similar to their printed takeaway menus, and in-store menu boards. Customers could use the website to order by phone.

*Over the years the website platform remained constant, however the page layouts and menus were regularly updated to suit the changing needs of the business and customers.

OrderUp online ordering

In 2013 to help free up the phone lines and increase customer satisfaction in regards to waiting times when ordering takeaways, Get in the Loop recommended OrderUp, a company specialising in online ordering systems for restaurateurs. Our role was to work with OrderUp and design the look and feel for the eCommerce mobile friendly website. We also focused on the logic, in regards to the takeaway menu’s multiple food combinations and choices.

When the new online ordering system was launched, it proved to be a huge success with store pick up and home delivery customers. They found the website easy to use, mobile friendly and the secure payment system encouraged repeat orders. Sales over the first 6 months increased exponentially. So much so, that the kitchen staff had to constantly adjust delivery times, unable to keep up with the influx of orders during peak times.

Social media and email marketing

Get in the Loop team set-up the social pages for Hurricane’s Express and managed email marketing and all the store’s Facebook customer requests, complaints and enquiries – 7 days a week.

In May 2019 we handed over the management of all social media and google pages to Hurricane’s in-house marketing team.
